ADHD often goes undiagnosed
in adults and untreated in adolescents. Research indicates 42% of adults with ADHD have another major psychiatric disorder,
further confusing the issue of appropriate diagnosis and treatment.
Whether there is
hyperactivity involved or not, the attentional focus is disrupted, causing problems with concentration, organization, time management, and follow through. As a result, interpersonal relationships suffer and performance at work or school is affected.
This course offers valuable
knowledge about the brain chemistry of ADHD, allowing you to gain insight into the often misinterpreted behaviors involved.
You will explore positive
approaches and adaptations to facilitate success in school or the workplace and
in relationships.
The use of medications,
therapy, and specific interventions will provide practical strategies for the effective
management of ADHD symptoms.
This course is designed for
human resource staff, job coaches, counselors, nurses, social workers, case
managers, and direct care staff who work with adolescents or adults
who have ADHD. This course is also helpful to parents, spouses, and family members.
