Sexuality and Developmental Disabilities
| No dates are currently scheduled |
Dealing with sexuality issues in individuals who have developmental disabilities is often complex and confusing. The goal is to understand our responsibility to help people with intellectual disabilities be safe in the exploration of their sexuality.
This interactive course offers the opportunity to identify sexual values, discuss issues with consent and learn about preventing sexual abuse in individuals with developmental disabilities.
Demonstration and role play are used to teach interventions that are effective in dealing with inappropriate or unsafe sexual behavior. Relevant sexuality teaching materials are presented through the use of videotapes, slides, activities and discussion.
This enlightening class offers nurses, social workers, program directors, job coaches, and direct care staff information, skills, and resources to respectfully deal with sexuality issues in community settings.
