Understanding Implementation & Compliance in the Use of Controlled Procedures
When supporting individuals with difficult to manage behaviors it may be necessary to implement intensive interventions designed to reduce the occurrence of problem behaviors. Some of these interventions are permitted but controlled under the Minnesota Rules 9525.2740—9525.2810 (i.e. Rule 40).
Some commonly used controlled procedures under Rule 40 are:
¨ Exclusionary and room time-out
¨ Positive practice overcorrection
¨ Restitutional overcorrection
¨ Manual restraint
¨ Mechanical restraint
This training will review all necessary considerations, procedures, and documentation relevant to the use of these procedures.
Practical considerations in the development of forms and the understanding of compliance topics will be highlighted for discussion.
This course is specifically designed for program directors and site managers working with people with developmental disabilities.
