Challenging Behaviors
| Tuesday, October 5th | 9:00 am - 2:45 pm | |||
Creating positive behavior change in others is a process, not an event! It begins with understanding our role in supporting and providing intervention for others in their lives. It takes a willingness to see behaviors that challenge us not as "problems" but as opportunities for us to be the facilitators of change.
Designed for direct care staff and new site managers, this training will provide a groundwork for building attitudes, approaches, and interventions that will support the best possible outcome for people receiving services. Participants will learn some of the basic principles of behavior, why challenging behaviors develop, and what maintains them.
A model for assessing and understanding challenging behaviors will be introduced to assist staff not to personalize behaviors. There will be an emphasis on some general interaction strategies and interventions that are helpful in supporting a myriad of different and unique individuals.
