Writing behavior programs is a difficult task which must be undertaken by staff in a variety of residential settings. A well designed, well written behavior plan can make a significant difference in the relationships and general well being of the individuals you work with. This exceptional class offers you the opportunity to learn to write an effective behavior plan.
An overview of relevant theory sets the direction for the learning experience. Understanding the principles of behavior change and your role as an interventionist will set the framework for designing and implementing effective behavior programs. Using assessments as the basis of intervention ensures an accurate perspective of the behavior to be modified. Identifying appropriate measurement tools and objective behavior descriptions will allow you to more effectively and accurately monitor behavior trends, changes, and identify possible needed revisions. The instructor emphasizes person centered planning and assists you to distinguish between a behavior plan and a behavior program.
You will have the opportunity to review several behavior programs and discuss the methodologies reflected in these programs. During the class you will participate in a small during group which you will write a specific behavior program. This exercise will give you an opportunity to integrate the concepts learned throughout the day, and offer you valuable feedback on the clarity and methodology of the behavior program.

About the instructor
Wendy Selnes, MA, BCBA Wendy is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. She holds a master's degree in Clinical Psychology with a minor in Child Psychology. Wendy has twelve years of experience in the field of human services. She is designated as a QMRP and fulfills the qualifications of a Mental Health Practitioner. She is a Partner and Senior Behavior Analyst with Brih Design, a consulting firm which offers support and services to people who exhibit difficult to manage behaviors. |
