Psychotropic medications are an important part of the treatment of mental illness. This course presents information that will help you to understand the impact of these medications on people’s lives.
General classification information on antipsychotics, antidepressants, stimulants, antimanics, sedative/hypnotics and antianxiety medications is reviewed with an emphasis placed on information about new medications. Indications for use, mechanisms of action, side effects and precautions when administering these medications is presented through lecture, videotape and discussion.
This practical, understandable and useful course will benefit nurses, case managers, administrators, program managers and counselors.

Karen Finck, RN, MS, CS, is an expert in psychiatric nursing and president of HCS. An engaging speaker, Ms. Finck lectures throughout Minnesota on mental health topics.
