Alzheimer's Disease
| No dates are currently scheduled |
Providing care for persons with Alzheimer's disease without understanding the expected losses is like trying to build a house without understanding the tools of the trade and how to use them.
Increase your knowledge and understanding of Alzheimer's disease and the persons affected by it. Become familiar with the "tools of the trade" so that both you and the person with Alzheimer’s disease will benefit from a relationship of understanding and respect.
This course on Alzheimer’s disease fulfills the requirements of the 2003 Minnesota Dementia Training Law, requiring Minnesota nursing homes, home care, housing with services and adult day care centers to train direct care staff and their supervisors in dementia care.
The four required areas of training:
¨ understanding Alzheimer’s disease,
¨ communication,
¨ activities of daily living, and
¨ behavior management
are presented in four sections filled with humor, lots of visual aids, dialogue and messages to the heart.
You will come away from this person-centered dementia training program rejuvenated, full of new information and filled with a sense of mission for yourself and your care giving role.
This course on Alzheimer’s disease is intended for program directors, site managers, administrators, unlicensed staff, social workers, and nurses.
