Managing Work Relationships
An African Perspective
An increasing number of people from Africa are providing care to individuals in group homes, nursing homes, hospitals, day training and activity centers, and assisted living sites. They have experiences, as well as traditions, that affect how they view their role and how they perform their job.
In this thought provoking course, Dr. Bogonko shares his perspective of the cultural influences of African countries as related to health care. He briefly reviews the geography of Africa and discusses its colonization. He provides information on the languages spoken and identifies other cultural influences in the various regions. A dramatic video presentation gives you insight about life in Africa. An exploration of male and female roles in Africa leads to an interesting discussion about how these roles affect work performance. Small work groups allow you to discuss issues at your workplace and identify specific techniques to improve communication.
Through his respectful and interactive approach, Dr. Bogonko helps you to understand the challenges these people face as they accept their new roles in America. This unique course assists you in building strong working relationships and communicating effectively in this age of growing cultural diversity.
Designed for supervisors and managers, this course offers time for discussion and consultation about communication and management issues you may have at your work site.
