Mindfulness

Tuesday, August 17th 9:00 am - 2:45 pm

In the fields of health and human services, staff are constantly asked to manage a myriad of difficult and dynamic situations. This course introduces the concept of mindfulness and teaches staff how to effectively bring the practice of mindfulness into their professions.

Mindfulness is:

  • Staying in the present moment,
  • Being in touch with oneself,
  • Remaining aware of circumstances,
  • Consciously interacting with others, and
  • Acting with intention.

This powerful skill is a recognized method for increasing productivity and effectiveness in the workplace. It gives staff a sense of true connection with those they support while maintaining healthy emotional boundaries and guarding against energy depletion.

Mindfulness is an approach that also provides tremendous personal benefits such as reducing stress, increasing positive energy, and supporting a feeling of well-being.

Offering experiential exercises ensures that these techniques are truly understood and real life integration is promoted. When using mindfulness techniques, staff are better equipped to deal with the challenges of their work, allowing for both professional and personal growth.

This course is helpful to anyone working in the fields of health or human services.
