Boundary Issues in Dysfunctional
Family Systems
| Tuesday, April 17th | 9:00 am - 2:45 pm |
Maintaining your boundaries as you work with dysfunctional family systems is challenging, confusing, and necessary. This workshop is designed for anyone who is confronted with family dynamics in the course of performing his or her job.
Family system theory will be reviewed and characteristics of healthy families will be identified. Dysfunctional communication patterns, boundaries, roles and rules will be discussed. Recognizing characteristics of abusive family systems will help to identify situations when it is necessary to take action.
Approaching dysfunctional family systems with knowledge, intact emotional boundaries, and positive energy enables interactions with families that are both realistic and effective.
Nurses, social workers, chemical dependency counselors, as well as group home management and direct care staff can benefit from this insightful training.
