This interactive curriculum assists staff to recognize their accountability in this important role essential to client health. Medication administration by unlicensed staff in community facilities is a complicated task requiring both knowledge and skill to safely assist in the treatment of medical and psychiatric conditions.
According to the rules and regulations, unlicensed personnel must be appropriately trained to administer medications. The course has been designed to meet federal and state ICF/MR requirements.
|
In addition to Medication Administration, an Observed Skill Assessment is available following part 2 of all Medication Administration courses, after completion of the written test. Skills for administering oral and topical medications, as well as eye and ear drops, will be observed by a registered nurse. Students participating in the HCS Medication Administration course will have the opportunity to practice their skills prior to demonstrating competency. A certificate of completion will be issued to each participant upon demonstration of skill. |
